About the webinar
This experiential upskilling session is for therapists seeking to strengthen their trauma-informed practice, understand nervous system responses in therapy and learn ways to self-regulate while working with trauma-impacted clients. Rather than focusing on theory, this session aims to hold space for how trauma shows up in the therapy room, what trauma-informed care looks like in practice and how therapists are impacted. It offers a deeper exploration into power, pacing, consent, and safety in the therapy room.
Agenda:
• Brief understanding of trauma (3 E’s of Trauma, types of trauma)• Window of Tolerance & survival responses (fight, flight, freeze, fawn- and its relevance to therapy)
• What trauma-informed care actually means (principles and 4Rs)
• Trauma-informed practice vs trauma therapy
• Power, pacing, consent, and safety in the therapy room
• Recognising and responding to vicarious trauma
• Therapist nervous system & self-regulation in sessions (Experiential Discussion)
Key Takeaways:
1. Understand what it truly means to be trauma-informed and incorporating it in daily practice
2. Recognise survival responses in clients and themselves
3. Use the Window of Tolerance to guide pacing and intervention
4. Skillfully navigate through power, pacing, consent and safety in the therapy room
5. Recognise early signs of vicarious trauma and be able to manage it
6. Strengthen one’s ability to self-regulate during sessions
